V-Beam Laser Therapy:
The V-Beam Laser uses laser light at a specific wavelength which interacts only with certain pigments (heme) in the blood. These pigments absorb the laser energy and coagulate and the lesion is absorbed by the body over a period of days to weeks.
The laser does not penetrate into the deep layers and therefore is safe for treating a variety of skin problems. During treatment, patients are given eye covering to protect the eyes. The laser hand piece is placed on the lesion and milliseconds before the laser fires, the skin is cooled by a blast of cryogen. This minimizes discomfort and damage to the neighboring skin.
Most patients tell us that the laser feels like a rubber band snap when it fires and that their skin feels like it’s been sunburned after treatment. The discomfort declines after a day or two. Many conditions required more than one treatment. Our doctors will discuss with you the treatment options, the outcome sought, the risks and side-efffects, and the cost at your consultation visit.
